Terms of Service & Privacy Policy
Wish Tree is an open, account-free shared digital board where anyone can hang a warm wish, watch a sakura flower bloom, and share positivity. This document explains what happens to your data, what we never collect, and how your privacy rights are protected, without confusing legalese or developer jargon.
1. What We Collect (Data Minimization)
We believe in collecting only the bare minimum required to display your wish:
- Wish Text: The message you hang on the branch (up to 180 characters). Stored in a compressed format (zlib Deflate) on the server to keep page loads fast.
- Nickname / Name: An optional name you choose to display (up to 24 characters). Left blank, you will simply appear as anonymous.
- Timestamp: The date and time when the blossom blooms.
2. What We Never Collect
Your privacy is respected by design:
- No Accounts or Passwords: There is no user registration, login system, or password database.
- No Email or Phone: We do not ask for personal contact information; we do not build marketing or newsletter lists.
- No Stored IP Addresses: Your IP address is never stored in the database or tied to your wish. It is evaluated only momentarily at the Cloudflare edge for spam protection and rate limiting.
- No Tracking Pixels: We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party behavioral trackers.
3. Public Board Notice
Every wish hung on the tree is publicly visible to all visitors. For your own safety and the safety of others, please never share sensitive personal data (such as national ID numbers, phone numbers, home addresses, confidential secrets, or financial details) in your wishes.
4. Automated Content Moderation & AI Safety Guard
To keep the tree positive, welcoming, and safe for everyone, all wishes undergo a two-tier automated check before appearing:
- Local Wordlist Filter: Blocks known profane, offensive, or illicit words, as well as obvious PII patterns.
- NVIDIA NIM Safety Model: The submitted text is analyzed over an encrypted TLS connection by NVIDIA NIM's safety guard model to detect hate speech, harassment, sexually explicit content, and violence. This evaluation is purely transient and your text is not used for AI model training.
Wishes that violate community safety rules are rejected immediately and never published.
5. Infrastructure & Third Parties
To ensure global reliability, performance, and security, we rely on trusted infrastructure providers:
- Cloudflare Pages & Edge: Web hosting, DDoS mitigation, and global CDN delivery.
- Turso (ChiselStrike libSQL): Encrypted edge database hosting wish texts and timestamps.
- hCaptcha (Intuition Machines, Inc.): Form protection to verify human interaction and prevent automated spam bots.
- Google Fonts: Web fonts for page typography.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
We do not use tracking or profiling cookies:
- Language Preference: Your chosen language (TR or EN) is stored solely in your browser's local storage (
localStorage) and is never transmitted to our server. - Consent State: Your consent preference (
dilek_pref) is kept as a minimal, compact encrypted cookie on your device. - Battery & Low-Power Modes: Battery saving and data saving are detected dynamically in real time via browser hardware APIs. No hardware state is saved in cookies or sent to any server.
7. Your Rights & Takedown Requests (KVKK & GDPR)
Under GDPR (Arts. 12–17) and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK Art. 11), you have the right to request information about your data and demand the deletion or correction of content associated with you.
If you wish to remove a message you posted or request the takedown of any content, simply contact the operator with the wish text and approximate posting time. Your request will be processed promptly and the entry will be permanently removed.
